Kevin's Thoughts...
I have always looked at Princess as being that perfect mix cruise line. They offer high energy, without being over the top, they offer kids programs, but kids don't rule the ship. They are something to everyone from kids to parents, to seniors and even solo travelers. This makes them perfect for just about everyone, especially multi-generational families. I see them as right on the line between mass-market and premium. This is definitely not Carnival... but it's also accessible to a wider number of people than the premium/luxury brands.
Princess cruises will have kids clubs, and active kids experiences. Most ships have at least 1 water slide, and kids will find plenty to do. Generally there are fewer kids on these ships than on the big 3 mass-market cruise lines, however there will most definitely be kids (on most itineraries)
The ships range from medium to large, with 4 under 100,000 tons (medium) and the biggest topping out at 145,000 tons. For passengers they range from 2000 to 3600 per ship. The ships feel less different from each other than other cruise lines. Most think this is a good thing. You tend to fall in love with the Princess experience rather than a specific Princess ship.
Princess has always been an innovator. They have brought many new cruise features into the industry (like Movies Under the Stars), and the current innovation is the Medallion. The entire fleet is Medallion enabled and use technology to enhance service in only the best ways. Messaging to others is just the start. Order a drink from anywhere and it will be delivered right to you... without having to search for a waiter. Unlock your stateroom automatically as you walk up. Use the giant video screens (often near elevators) to schedule activates, and find out where the others in your group are located.
Promotions on Princess can be good and bad. Huge discount offers are not as common as on other mass-market lines. There can be savings to be had, but not always... of course we always discount your cruise … agency exclusives are the best way to save, we have a lot of them on many sailings. We can work on it and make sure you get the best offer.
Princess is huge in the Alaska cruise market in particular, and can be paired with various land experiences either before or after your cruise... or just do a standard 7 night round-trip from either Vancouver or Seattle. Princess Cruises also sail the Caribbean, west coast, Mediterranean, and Panama Canal cruises.
